I totally missed it!

In case anyone was wondering if AJ and I had experienced yesterday's LA earthquake...the answer is that AJ did, but I missed it. I'm not necessarily disappointed about the fact that I missed it either. I had flown to Utah just a few hours earlier to visit my family.

It turned out that AJ was on the driving range of the golf course at the time of the earthquake. When I asked him what being in the earthquake was like, his response was that he hardly felt the earthquake, rather he was wondering why all of the golf balls that he was hitting seemed to be so jacked up. He concluded that it must have been the the shaking of the earth that caused his golf balls to fly so offline. 

Nothing in our apartment was broken, thankfully. AJ said that all of the pictures were crooked, but otherwise everything else maintained order.

AJ will meet up with me in UT on Saturday. We have some tee times set for next week, after which I will let you all know the reality of golf therapy. If I were to report on golf therapy today, I would say "so far, so good. We've really enjoyed ourselves." However, let's hold that thought until we play a few rounds together ;) 

Truth be told, I'm really looking forward to playing golf with AJ! He's come a long way in just a few short weeks. We really like the pro that he's been working with in Orange County. If anyone wants to pick up the game and needs a referral, let us know!  

Two blissful years down....an uncountable many left to go

We've now been married 721 days! (because this year was a leap year) I wish we could say that we were celebrating our joyful union today, but we're not. Rather, I taught summer school this morning, and Adam was called in to serve jury duty. After jury duty is over for the day, he has to go into work until midnight. Lucky guy...

For our anniversary, we decided to pick up the game of golf together. Good idea?.... TBD. I played growing up, and Adam has recently begun playing. So we put a "little" bit of cash into becoming equipped so we can play. We also got Adam some lessons with a golf pro that is, in a way, a family friend. This golf pro apparently also wants to be our marriage counselor because last week, during Adam's first lesson, this guy spent a good chunk of time telling us how great the game will be for our marriage. I'll keep y'all posted on how this method of therapy goes ;)

Kleptomaniac at the Post Office

I would imagine that anytime a business has pens lying around for their customers to use, it would not be a rare occurance if a customer walked out with one. Unless there was a spoon, a flower, or some other massive object taped to the pen to help the customer remember that the pen is not theirs. I'd like to think that it was this sort of mix up that allowed some dude to take my pen at the post office yesterday, but I doubt it. Here's why:

I hate using the post office pens. All I can think about is how many other people have had their hands on those pens and it simply sickens me. Thus, I carry my own pen in my purse that I can use to fill out paperwork at the local businesses. So when I arrived to the post office yesterday and had to fill out the address on a Priority Envelope, I promptly pulled out my RSVP pen and went to work. Meanwhile, another man stepped up to the counter by me and filled out his own envelope. I finished before him and got in line, still holding my pen, and he ended up behind me.

Finally, it was my turn to be serviced by one of the five postal workers at the counter and I took a few packages to "Cheryl"'s section of the service counter to be mailed (Cheryl is one of the friendliest postal workers I have ever encountered). After she finishes weighing my packages, she tells me the total, and I put my pen down next to my purse on the counter so that I can get the coinage from my purse. At this point, the man who had filled out his envelope next to me was being serviced by the postal worker two stations down from me. This guy stepped around the customer that was between us, says "excuse me," and takes my pen. I was taken aback when he did this, so I quickly hand Cheryl my change, I turn to get my pen back. However, he's out the door! He didn't use it at his counter, or anything rational like that; the dude simply and consciously stole my pen! Can you tell I'm a little irritated? I guess he thought he needed it more than me.

I love it!

A Trip to the Zoo

This past weekend, I was able to take a trip to see my family. While I was there, we took the girls to the Hogle Zoo. Here's some pictures from our little outing.






Ruby would roar at each of the animals as we approached their cages. She's got a pretty mean roar, but it is dang cute!


"A" was a little cuddly on zoo morning. It took her a while to warm up to the whole zoo experience.

THE US OPEN

AJ was able to get some tickets to the US Open from work, so on Saturday we woke up early in the morning and drove to San Diego to walk the grounds of Torrey Pines with all of golf's greats! We were able see a little bit of everything. Not only were we able to watch all types of golf shots, we were able to see the top 20 players of the US Open. AJ and I camped out on the second hole right where the players walked by to the second tee. Tiger Woods, Rocco Mediate, Stuart Appleby, Luke Donald, Geoff Ogilvy, Ernie Els, Davis Love III, walked 5 yards away from us. We were also able to see Mike Weir, Phil Mickelson, Adam Scott, Vijah Singh, and Sergio Garcia tee off. It is simply incredible!

Book Recommendation

I read this book last week and really enjoyed it! This is the author's first novel and it is fantastic! If you have some spare time (ha, ha, ha) I really commend you read it.
